In 2021, there was a name change to the famous Aunt Jemima syrup and pancake mix. They recently
changed the name because the brand was getting negative feedback about the name since the logo is
based on a stereotype towards Black women. The brand changed the name to Pearl Milling Company,
even with this name people are still giving the company negative remarks since the name is not
appealing or up to their standards. The company kept the same font as the one from before, the font for
Pearl Milling Company stayed the same as they changed the name from Aunt Jemima. However,
the text size did get smaller, they also changed the logo picture from a Black woman to a picture of
the Pearl Millings Company. The logo picture is smaller than the original but the brand also kept
the red, yellow, and white colors within the box. I feel as though the name change should've happened
years ago and people shouldn't be mad with the new name since they changed their popular name to
one that is unappealing but it seems like it doesn't cause as much harm as the first logo picture and
name did. In Computer Graphics, we talk a lot about designs and this examples changes text size,
changes to images and the use different fonts and sizing along with different colors especially when
we were making our Afrofuturism graphics, we made a lot of changes to get the graphic to where we
want them to be.
