DFPA Kick Off Conference: Event 1

Location: Fine Arts Recital Hall Bowie Uni.

        

        On October 5th, I attended the DFPA Kick-Off Conference at Bowie State, and this conference was

mainly directed to new and transfer students of DFPA majors. This event was 2 hours long and I stayed

for 30 minutes to an hour, this conference was very informational and everyone was engaged by asking

questions. As a computer science major, I was able to learn that I have access to all Adobe apps such as 

Photoshop, Firefly, and Adobe Express. The speaker Professor Tweodross mentioned that Bowie is in 

partnership with Adobe, this is an Adobe school even though some students are only familiar

with/strong in canvas products. These events helps those in the DFPA majors which includes fashion

design, digital arts and music etc. learn what resources they can use to better their knowledge about

their studies and what can help them in the present. I learned about a program named LAKIA

introduced by Professor Tweodross which helps students develop and create short films and get 

involved with 2D and 3D animation. This event relates back to what I am currently doing in my 

VDCMA class because we just did an assignment on Afrofuturism and my assignment was to compare 

stop motion to Afrofuturism. We are currently using Adobe which helped me find photos to represent 

Afrofuturism and stop motion and if I wanted to LAKIA would be a great fit for me to get more 

involved with stop motion. 

    This is the second speaker talking about Bowie resources funded so that DFPA students are able to 

access more than just Adobe products.

  Deasia Craig  VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 10th, 2023   Photoshop Tutorial: Blog 1 Location: Fine Arts Bowie Uni.       Today, I did the Photoshop tutorial and I followed along with the steps they gave me. I tried  something  different while playing around with Photoshop. I was able to remove the background of a  picture that the  Photoshop total gave me. I unlocked the layer and tapped on the photo and at the  bottom, it said “Removed   Background”. At that point, I clicked on that box which removed everything  and now the original photos  are basic with no background. As you can see photoshop did have a little  bit of a rough time removing  everything in the after photo but this tutorial is very helpful in my  VCDMA Computer Graphic class as  we are using Adobe Express and Photoshop to make artwork.                                                                                      BEFORE AFTER

The Blvck Factor Part 2

D easia Craig VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 December 8th, 2023 Blog 4 Location:  Baltimore, MD   Today, I assisted my friend Janae in creating a brand acronym for her brand, The Blvck Factor. We came up with "Breaking Limits To Value Creative Knowledge." Additionally, we discussed the various design applications she uses, with Canva being her preferred choice. However, I have more experience with Adobe products. I am currently in talks with her about helping her design items, and during our conversation, I experimented with Adobe to create a new design for shirts. Specifically, I utilized Adobe Illustrator, employing the text tool to incorporate different fonts in the wording. I also made use of the angle tool, adjusting the "factor" to about a 30-degree angle, give or take. For the art picture, I used Adobe Express Ai text-to-image to generate an image of a black bird. Deasia Craig  VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 10th, 2023  Photoshop Tutorial: Blog 2 Location: Fine Arts Bowie Uni.       In my free time, I decided to experiment more with Photoshop. To practice, I used a free template  provided by Photoshop. In  the original image, there was a zebra elephant. Using Photoshop, I hid the  animal layer to create my own version of the image. I  kept the rocks and background and replaced the   animal with a cat photo I found on Adobe Stock. Adding the image, I clicked on  the add photo icon and  cropped it. To remove the photo's background, I used the layer properties  and used the quick actions tool.  Which had the remove background box and it removed the background of the cat.  I repeated the same  process with the yarn photo, and the results were great. Using this type of methods, I can use these during  my VDCMA class since I am still learning Photoshop. ORIGINAL   EDITED
