Deasia Craig VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 11th  Photoshop Tutorial: Event 4 Location:  Los Angelos (In-Person/Online)      On October 11th, I attended the virtual Adobe Sneaks conference where you get a sneak peek at what Adobe is currently developing. During the conference, the co-host Danielle Morimoto welcomed all presenters while they gave their demos to the audience. One of the sneaks presenters was Gabriel Huang and his project was called Fast Fill. During his demo, he showed how he could remove people from the background of a video by drawing a mask around them and pressing the generate button. Huang also demonstrated how you can edit a video the same way you can edit a photo. He showed how he added a tie to the collar of a person in a video by using the mask and text to image feature. I was surprised to learn that you can easily edit a video just like a photo using Adobe. I liked what I saw from this presenter because I would have never known this information o

The Weeknd Concert: Washington, DC

Deasia Craig VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 July 31, 2022  Photoshop Tutorial: Event 4 Location: Washington, DC     Back in 2022, me and my friends went to The Weeknd Concert, it reminded me of the  Beyonce  Renaissance Tour, her tour shows Afrofuturism and Feminism, throughout the concert you  can  see  the many different themes and aesthetics she shows. Which is why I wanted to talk about The  Weeknd Concert since his concert also showed signs of Afrofuturism which I have discussed in.  Computer Graphics with my teacher and classmate since that was the topic of discussion. Me and my friends were able to capture pictures at different angles, the concert was very impressive with all the  visual art such as the  spotlights , the explosive fire, the flying space figure and the hanging realistic  moon in  different light settings. These elements were included in the concert and shows the  variety of how technology, graphics designs are used to show Afrofuturism.  This is a photo to

Changes To The Famous Aunt Jemima Syrup

Image
Deasia Craig  VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 June 2021 Photoshop Tutorial: Blog 6 Location:  St. Joseph, Mo,  United States      In 2021, there was a name change to the famous Aunt Jemima syrup and pancake mix. They recently  changed the name because the brand was getting negative feedback about the name since the logo is  based on a stereotype towards Black women. The brand changed the name to Pearl Milling Company,  even with this name people are still giving the company negative remarks since the name is not  appealing or up to their standards. The company kept the same font as the one from before, the font for Pearl Milling Company stayed the same as they changed the name from Aunt Jemima. However,  the text size did get smaller, they also changed the logo picture from a Black woman to a picture of  the Pearl Millings Company. The logo picture is smaller than the original but the brand also kept  the red, yellow, and white colors within the box. I feel as though the name cha

Adobe Max Creativity Conference: Day 2

Deasia Craig VDCMA (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 11th, 2023 Adobe Max Conference: Event 3 Location: Los Angelos (In-Person/Online)      On October 11th, I attended Day 2 of the Adobe Max Conference, today they had four speakers but  I  took notes on two of the speakers which were Aaron Draplin (Graphic Designer) and Karan X  Chang  (Creative Director). During this conference, we follow along with each speaker while they talk  about life,  the challenges they faced, and how they were able to succeed in life in their careers.       The first speaker was Aaron Draplin, he mentioned that when he was younger his first design was on  a  skateboard and he made other graphic designs by hand. He eventually went back to school to learn  screen  printing. Then, in 2007 he was able to make something of his career by putting out his own work  for  himself  and others. Eventually, he was able to work with Adobe, Phish, Bernie Sanders, Voyager  and  NASA. Draplin's presentation was very inf

Deasia Craig  VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 10th, 2023  Photoshop Tutorial: Blog 2 Location: Fine Arts Bowie Uni.       In my free time, I decided to experiment more with Photoshop. To practice, I used a free template  provided by Photoshop. In  the original image, there was a zebra elephant. Using Photoshop, I hid the  animal layer to create my own version of the image. I  kept the rocks and background and replaced the   animal with a cat photo I found on Adobe Stock. Adding the image, I clicked on  the add photo icon and  cropped it. To remove the photo's background, I used the layer properties  and used the quick actions tool.  Which had the remove background box and it removed the background of the cat.  I repeated the same  process with the yarn photo, and the results were great. Using this type of methods, I can use these during  my VDCMA class since I am still learning Photoshop. ORIGINAL   EDITED

Deasia Craig  VDCMA (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 10th, 2023 Adobe Max Conference: Event 2 Location: Los Angelos (In-Person/Online)     Today, I attended the virtual conference of Adobe Max, this conference gave us insight into Adobe  products since these are helping us become more advanced with technology. One speaker David  Wadhawni introduced us to Adobe Firely, where he mentioned that this app itself helps us create  images  without  going through the hard work, instead, we can AI generated using descriptions to get  exactly what  we imagined our picture to be. Then, within the conference, they showed us how a person using Photoshop was taking a picture and  adjusting it to his liking. This gave us a snippet of how to crop and edit our pictures when using Adobe  products. Having insight into this new app I just learned about can help me in my VDCMA class since we are  using express and Photoshop but on our new assignments, I could possibly use Firefly to get images  that I wa

Deasia Craig  VDCMA (Computer Science) 2235880 October 5th, 2023 DFPA Kick Off Conference: Event 1 Location: Fine Arts Recital Hall Bowie Uni .                     On October 5th, I attended the DFPA Kick-Off Conference at Bowie State, and this conference was mainly directed to new and transfer students of DFPA majors. This event was 2 hours long and I stayed for 30 minutes to an hour, this conference was very informational and everyone was engaged by asking questions. As a computer science major, I was able to learn that I have access to all Adobe apps such as  Photoshop, Firefly, and Adobe Express. The speaker Professor Tweodross mentioned that Bowie is in  partnership with Adobe, this is an Adobe school even though some students are only familiar with/strong  in canvas products. These events helps those in the DFPA majors which includes fashion design, digital  arts and music etc. learn what resources they can use to better their knowledge about their studies and  wha t can h

Photoshop Tutorial

Deasia Craig  VDCMA 230 (Computer Graphics) 2235880 October 10th, 2023   Photoshop Tutorial: Blog 1 Location: Fine Arts Bowie Uni.       Today, I did the Photoshop tutorial and I followed along with the steps they gave me. I tried  something  different while playing around with Photoshop. I was able to remove the background of a  picture that the  Photoshop total gave me. I unlocked the layer and tapped on the photo and at the  bottom, it said “Removed   Background”. At that point, I clicked on that box which removed everything  and now the original photos  are basic with no background. As you can see photoshop did have a little  bit of a rough time removing  everything in the after photo but this tutorial is very helpful in my  VCDMA Computer Graphic class as  we are using Adobe Express and Photoshop to make artwork.                                                                                      BEFORE AFTER
